A Canterbury education is a meaningful investment in your child’s future. We’re committed to making tuition clear and easy to understand, so you can move forward with confidence.
Tuition is tiered by grade level and all-inclusive, covering the full student experience from technology and books to outdoor education, field trips, and more.
We also recognize that every family’s financial picture is different. Canterbury offers flexible payment plans and need-based tuition assistance to help make the Canterbury journey accessible and ensure that cost does not prevent qualified students from being considered.

2026-27 Tuition.
Cubs – PreK Half Day (8 a.m. – 1p.m.): $10,200
Cubs – PreK Full Day (8 a.m. – 3:10 p.m.): $13,600
Kindergarten: $21,600
Grades 1-4: $23,700
Grades 5-8: $25,200
2026-27 Extended day fees
Extended Day is offered daily from 3:10 – 6 p.m. for Cubs-8th grade. Costs below are annual costs and paid based on the tuition payment plan selected by the family. Families who are eligible for a reduced tuition rate through Indexed Tuition are also eligible for a reduced Extended Day fee.
Five days per week: $2,820
Three days per week: $1,820
Financial assistance
Tuition looks different for every family. At Canterbury, access matters—and we believe a meaningful education should be within reach. That’s why we offer a range of intentionally designed tuition support options for each family’s unique circumstances.
Indexed Tuition
Canterbury’s Indexed Tuition program is designed to make a Canterbury education possible for a wider range of families based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. While no student receives full tuition assistance, Canterbury remains committed to providing help to families of qualified students who otherwise could not attend.
Families with children in grades K-8 may apply for Indexed Tuition through the Clarity Financial Aid application, which determines a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share, including assets, income, expenses, and debts.
State of North Carolina Opportunity Scholarship
Canterbury School currently accepts the Opportunity Scholarship through the state of North Carolina. Applications are available online through the state and should be completed during the month of February for priority consideration.
Families who receive the scholarship may also apply for Indexed Tuition. As part of our intentionally designed approach, all tuition support is considered within your overall plan, and scholarship awards may influence the amount of Indexed Tuition offered.
Armfield Scholarship (rising 6-8th grade)
The Armfield Scholarship is a merit scholarship for high-achieving students of color entering middle school who meet specific need-based criteria. The scholarship is awarded to two rising 6th graders each year and covers 95% of tuition for three years. In addition to tuition, the scholarship also supports extra school expenses such as athletics and field trips.
To be considered for the scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Grades of B+ or better on the last two years’ report cards
- Excellent record of behavior/citizenship
- Strong test scores (top 15% on nationally standardized testing) and scores of four or higher on EOGs
- Combined family income of approximately $65,000 or below
- To apply, begin your application and select the “Armfield Scholarship Application” once you’ve indicated you are applying for 6th grade. Armfield Scholarship applications do not require an application fee.
Payment Options
Flexible payment plans.
Canterbury offers payment plan options that allow families to spread tuition payments over time. Families can choose to pay for tuition in one lump sum, across two payments, or monthly during the school year. After an annual $56 set-up fee per family, there are no additional fees or penalties to pay monthly. These plans are designed to support family budgeting and provide flexibility throughout the school year.
