Canterbury School Launches Relief Effort for Hurricane Helene Victims
In the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, Canterbury School is stepping up to support those impacted in Western Carolina. As a community rooted in compassion and service, Canterbury is organizing a relief effort to provide essential supplies and donations to aid in recovery efforts.
Canterbury School is directing online donations to two key organizations that are actively providing critical aid: the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund and the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund. These organizations are delivering much-needed support to the victims, and contributions from the Canterbury community will make a meaningful impact on the ongoing recovery efforts.
In addition to monetary donations, Canterbury is collecting essential supplies for direct delivery to the Fire Departments of Ashe County, where local residents are in desperate need. The supplies will be delivered by a truck organized by First-grade teacher Michelle Lee’s father who is working closely with families in Ashe County.
Items in high demand include:
- Diapers
- Formula
- Wipes
- Paper Towels
- Toilet Paper
- Feminine Products
- Dog Food
- Cat Litter
- Cat Food
- Blankets
- Flashlights
- Batteries
To facilitate donations, collection boxes are located in the lobbies of Fry Hall, Brown Hall, Berry Hall, and Armfield now through the end of the day on Friday, October 4. Donations can be dropped off in these locations or during Lower and Middle School afternoon carpool on Friday, October 4, where Canterbury Parents’ Association (CPA) members will be collecting items directly from vehicles.
Canterbury School Hosts High
Canterbury School will host a High School Fair from 6 - 7:30 pm on Monday, September 30, in Berry Hall located on the Canterbury campus, 5400 Old Lake Jeanette Rd. This free event will provide students and their families with a comprehensive overview of high school options. Students from all area middle schools are invited to attend.
