Admission Process

Thank you for your interest in Canterbury School. We are scheduling on-campus tours, accepting applications, and considering students for admission for the 2022-23 school year. It's not too early to start thinking about next year, and we are happy to start planning ahead with you as you find your child's school home.

If you are looking for the current 2021-22 school year, we do have limited spaces available in some grades. Please contact our Director of Admissions, Caroline Walker, at walkerca@canterburygso.org to find out whether there is still space in your child's grade.

To Apply

Submit an admission application online

First round priority deadline is Monday, January 24, 2022.

Families who apply by this date will be included in the first round of admissions decisions. Applications will continue to be accepted after the deadline as long as space remains available. Decisions will be made on a rolling basis after first round offers have been made. There is a $50 non-refundable application fee paid online as part of the application.

Indexed Tuition

If you are applying for grades K-8 and are planning to apply for Indexed Tuition, you will need to complete the FAST application. Families interested in Indexed Tuition are encouraged to apply in the first round and complete both the admission application and FAST application prior to January 24. To learn more about Indexed Tuition, visit the Affordability page.

  • Standardized test reports (for grades 4-8): can be emailed to walkerca@canterburygso.org or submitted via online application portal
  • Families can submit Transcript request to current school for report cards and test reports if preferred

Schedule an assessment visit

Assessments generally take place in January and February.

Once you have submitted your application and provided your supporting documents, our team will work with your family to schedule a visit for your child. These visits typically start at the beginning of January. Visits look different depending on the age of your child.  Early childhood applicants will participate in an age-appropriate playdate. Applicants for kindergarten and older will complete an academic assessment as part of their visit that will help our committee determine if we are able to meet their learning needs. This visit is also an important opportunity for your child to see what Canterbury is like and learn more about the school.

Offer of admission

First round acceptances will begin Friday, February 11, 2022.

While every child has their own unique gifts and abilities, we regret that we cannot admit every applicant. Our admissions committee carefully reviews each application and decide whether we are able to offer admission. Should your child be accepted, you will receive an enrollment contract to review and your family will be able to make your final decision about enrolling your child at Canterbury.
